Quran Word of the Day (3) – Islam

Islam is derived from the three letter root س ل م

This word refers to the fact of being safe and sound, unharmed and unimpaired (السلامة)
A Muslim is at peace with his creator, in addition to being merciful to all humanity

Islam = Submission, resignation and totally surrendering to Allah’s will
And following his commands

In Islam all other prophets are considered “muslim” (with a small m, i.e. those who submit to God), as opposed to being Muslim (technically, the followers of Muhammad PBUH).

The Quran says:

[It is] the religion of your father, Abraham. Allah named you “Muslims” before [in former scriptures] and in this [revelation] that the Messenger may be a witness over you and you may be witnesses over the people. [22:78]

When Jesus realized they [still] did not believe, he said, ‘Who will help me in God’s cause?’ The disciples said, ‘We will be God’s helpers; we believe in God- witness our devotion to Him. [3:52]
